I’ve been DJing since high school, curating playlists for myself, friends, and even clients, but began playing live sets to crowds in late 2022. Since then, I’ve performed across New York City and in cities including: London, Mexico City, and Tokyo, including favorite NYC venues such as Public Records, Mood Ring, and Baby’s All Right.
I started out under the nickname manlikemax, a nickname friends in London gave me a few years ago. In 2024, I adopted a new moniker: musicdj102, a nod to the first email address I created at age five (which still works as an AOL email). The name reflects a deep-rooted and playful connection to music that’s been with me since childhood. Now, I’m leaning towards spinning under my government name again. We shall see.
While I’m passionate about a wide range of sounds, my sets today lean toward dance-oriented genres guided by rhythm, emotion, and movement, including: house, funk, soul, disco, garage, jungle, and baile funk. Whether playing solo or collaborating with other DJs or live musicians, I approach DJing the same way I approach painting: as a practice of layering, energy-building, and communal experience.
