Waystation (2026)
Wood, Acrylic, Aluminum & Steel Hardware, Handmixed Dye Stain

Collaboration with TanBoe.

Waystation refers to a stopping point along a journey.

Designed as a modular, portable, and ever-evolving object, Waystation exists as an exchange between two distinct but overlapping practices: Max Kulchinsky’s work as a DJ, record collector, and Deep Listening practitioner, and Tanner Boesiger’s sculptural furniture design, which utilizes form, friction, and contrasting materials to challenge perception of space.

The object is a record of a conversation that is still ongoing, and is built to accumulate interventions over time, across locations, and between collaborators.

Its first major presentation will be as part of a solo exhibition of Kulchinsky’s recent work at The A.I.R. Building in Tokyo in late August to early September 2026, followed by an exhibition in New York City in October. Each iteration will reflect the context it travels through, and invite social engagements including: Deep Listening sessions, DJ sets, and other performances.
