Hi, welcome to my site.

My name is Max Kulchinsky, and I’m an artist,
Deep Listening facilitator, and DJ from New York City.

I believe gathering people around music listening is crucial to fostering a better world.

This takes form in my practices through:
listening sessions, brand activations, team workshops, sonic curation, and moderation.

Atune

Atune is the listening practice I founded in 2025, inspired by
the lineage of Pauline Oliveros’ Deep Listening.

We’ve hosted over 30 Deep Listening sessions around New York City,
extending to Chicago, Tokyo, and Los Angeles.

Our sessions are centered around listening to a full album,
silently, start to finish.

We’ve hosted groups as intimate as 5, and as expansive as 100,
from my living room to Silence Please in NYC.
We’ve partnered with labels including Verve Records and artists
like James Blake on exclusive sessions.

Art

I am a visual and conceptual artist, investigating connections between
Deep Listening, communal happenings, and visual arts.

I share monthly Blues, as an ongoing series since 2023.
These works are fluid studies which also serve as a visual diary.

I also recently collaborated with my friend TanBoe
on a sculptural performance station called Waystation.

Music

After nearly a decade of working in the music industry,
I stepped out to pursue my own visual art,
eventually leading me back to music as a curator and DJ.

I perform regularly around NYC, and play around the US
and internationally in cities like London and Tokyo.
