Hello, I’m Max Kulchinsky.

Welcome to my site!

I’m an artist,
Deep Listening facilitator,
and DJ from New York City.

I believe gathering people around
music listening is crucial to fostering
a better world.

This takes form in my practices through:
listening sessions, brand activations,
team workshops, sonic curation, and moderation.

Atune

Atune is a listening practice I founded in 2025, inspired by
the lineage of Pauline Oliveros’ Deep Listening.

We regularly host Deep Listening sessions around New York City,
extending to Chicago, Tokyo, and Los Angeles.

Our sessions are centered around listening to a full album,
silently and phone-free, from start to finish.

We’ve hosted groups as intimate as 5, and as expansive as 100,
from my living room to NYC’s most celebrated listening rooms.
We’ve partnered with labels including Verve Records and artists
like James Blake on exclusive sessions.

Art

I am a visual and conceptual artist, investigating connections between
Deep Listening, communal happenings, and the fine arts.

Every month, I share fluid, gestural studies as part of my ongoing Blues series.
These works also serve as a visual diary.

I recently created a sculptural performance station called Waystation,
in collaboration with artist and furniture designer TanBoe.

Music

Before pursuing my art practices full time,
I worked in the music industry for nearly a decade.

Art led me back to music as a curator and DJ.

I perform regularly around NYC, the US,
and internationally in cities like London, CDMX, and Tokyo.
