Hello, I’m Max Kulchinsky.

Welcome to my site!
I’m an artist, listening facilitator, 
and DJ from New York City.
 I believe gathering people around 
music listening is crucial to fostering

a better world. This takes form in my practices through: listening sessions, sound consulting,&#38;nbsp;sonic curation,
team workshops, brand activations, and moderation.

AtuneAtune is a listening practice I founded in 2025, as a way to make space for undivided attention, drawing on Pauline Oliveros’ Deep Listening.

We regularly host Deep Listening sessions around New York City,&#38;nbsp;extending to Chicago, Tokyo, and Los Angeles.&#38;nbsp;
Our sessions are centered around listening
to a full album, 
silently and phone-free, from start to finish.
We’ve hosted groups as intimate as 5 and as expansive as 100,from my living room to NYC’s most celebrated listening rooms. We’ve partnered with labels including Verve Records and artists
like James Blake on exclusive sessions.&#38;nbsp;
 
Art
 I am a visual and conceptual artist, bridging the fine arts and attuned listening.

Every month, I create fluid, gestural studies as part of my ongoing Blues series.&#38;nbsp;

I recently created a sculptural performance station called Waystation,in collaboration with artist and furniture designer&#38;nbsp;TanBoe.&#38;nbsp;

MusicBefore pursuing my art practices full time, 
I worked in the music industry for nearly a decade.

Art led me back to music as a curator and DJ.
I perform regularly around NYC, the US,
and internationally in London, CDMX, and Tokyo.

Designed as a modular, portable, and ever-evolving object, Waystation exists as an exchange between two distinct but overlapping practices: Max Kulchinsky’s work as a DJ, record collector, and Deep Listening practitioner, and Tanner Boesiger’s sculptural furniture design, which utilizes form, friction, and contrasting materials to challenge perception of space.&#38;nbsp;

Inquire for a custom commission.The object is a record of a conversation that is still ongoing, and is built to accumulate interventions over time, across locations, and between collaborators.Its first major presentation will be as part of a solo exhibition of Kulchinsky’s recent work at The A.I.R. Building in Tokyo in late August to early September 2026, followed by an exhibition in New York City in October. Each iteration will reflect the context it travels through, and invite social engagements including: Deep Listening sessions, DJ sets, and other performances.
